Don’t Give Up

"It's through many failures that success is found."

During these tough economic times, it’s easy for small business owners to be tempted to give up. Satan only needs a small foothold – and the terrible economy is more than a small foothold – to convince us that we’re not really called to do what we know in our hearts God has called us to do.

Maybe your business, like many others in this country, is struggling right now. Maybe you aren’t bringing in enough sales to make ends meet, maybe you’re having trouble making payroll, or maybe you’ve just had enough and you feel like you’re sitting on the sidelines watching your business crumble, feeling like you’ve tried everything and it’s time to just let it go.

Let me assure you that if God has called you to further His kingdom by being a business owner, He never intended for you to give up just because things are difficult. He never promised us things wouldn’t be difficult, but He did promise us that through all the struggles and difficulties He would never leave us or forsake us.

Joshua 1:9 tells us, “…Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (NIV)

Then, in 2 Chronicles 15:7 God says, “But as for you, be strong and do not give up for your work will be rewarded.” (NIV)

And, just in case you didn’t hear Him the first two times, like a good father does, He repeats himself a third time. In Jeremiah 31:16  He instructs and assures us, “…Restrain your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears, for your work will be rewarded…” (NIV)

God wants you to remember today, and every day,  that He called you into this work and if you keep at it, even through the hard times, your persistence, perseverance, and hard work WILL be rewarded. Don’t give up on the calling you’ve received from the Lord. He has big rewards planned for you, but you’ll never see them if you quit now.

If  God has called you into business, He will make a way for you to succeed.
